American Bucking Bull, Inc., a registry for the bucking bull industry, which organizes events called Futurities and Classics.  Futurities are for two year old bulls and they are bucked with a mechanical dummy.  Classics are for three and four year olds with riders.  Bulls are judged on their athleticism and don’t have to buck off the rider to win.

Lynn and Rosemary Rice combined the breeding programs of Rice’s Running R with Kephart’s Rocking K.  Add the breeding technology of the Dodge City Bull Company (DCBC), and you have the essence of the Rockin’ RK, the 1500 acre Rice Ranch in Southeastern Oklahoma. Lynn and Rosemary are dedicated to improving the Plummer Bloodline from which their outstanding bucking stock originates.

LYNN’S PICKS  It took some doing, but we finally got Lynn to make some personal choices for this year’s sale.  “There are so many great cows in this year’s sale it is hard to pick a favorite”, Lynn said. So with that caveat, here are some of the comments he made about three sale cows.  “I think Lot 14 (RK 421) could be a great flush cow.  The Mr. Cooper (RK 977) side of her pedigree should give her calves all the kick you would want.   The offspring of Lot 19 (RK 586) should have the heart, toughness and size of Kephart 260, The Bomb, along with the performance already demonstrated by RK Bar 7’s calves.  For example, one of her calves, Tequila Bar, has been a multi-futurity winner this year. Lot 39 (RK 739) is a double bred Houdini, and if you add the genetics of an original CP cow on the top (CP 03 Rose), and the proven performance of RK 01, Tequila Rose on the bottom you have a cow you could build an entire program around.  These are just three that come to mind, there are many more in the sale.”

Lynn also made a few comments about the yearling bulls for sale this year. “We are please that the two-year old bulls we have sold in the past have done well for their owners.  The seven yearling bulls offered in this year’s sale are outstanding futurity prospects.  They have not been bucked, but all seven have the genetics to be superstars.  The first example is Lot 63 (RK 1162) who is sired by Mr. Harrison and out of RK 940 who is also the dam to Akin-For-8.  Mr. Harrison, RK 74, also sired RK 470, Bump ‘n Grind, who went to the finals in 2006, and RK 636, Hex, who will be going to the finals this year.  A second example is Lot 64 (RK 1199) who is sired by Akin-For-8, and out of RK 151, a Panhandle Slim daughter who is also the dam to RK 636, Hex.  Here are two examples, but we’re sure anyone looking for a good futurity bull won’t go wrong with any of the seven offered.”
